About Craftomation 101

Craftomation 101 is a crafting game where you do not do the crafting yourself. You land on an icy planet with a couple of clumsy robots, and the only way to get anything done is to program them. The programs are made of visual blocks, such as move, pick up, drop and craft, snapped together into loops. A good program keeps a robot gathering ice and rock forever while you plan the next step.

Each level sets a task, like putting five ingots into storage or melting a patch of ground, and the puzzle is writing a program that does it reliably. As the planet warms up, new resources and new blocks appear.

How to Play Craftomation 101

1. Read the task at the top of the level.
2. Open a robot's program and snap blocks together: move, grab, craft, drop.
3. Run the program and watch the robot work. Fix it when it gets stuck.
4. Complete the task to unlock the next area and new blocks.

Controls

• Mouse: drag program blocks, click to select robots and tiles.
• Touch: the same drags work on a tablet.
• Play and pause buttons: run or stop all robots.

Tips and Tricks

• Loops are everything. A program that does one job and then repeats is worth more than a long one-off script.
• Give each robot one job. A gatherer and a crafter beat one robot trying to do both.
• Fire needs fuel and tending; automate that early or your furnace goes cold.
• If a robot stops, step through its program. Usually it is waiting for an item that never arrives.
